Thistle fan Paul Climie recently discovered a map from 1861 that shows the location of Partick Thistle’s Muir Park ground, in the centre of the map. The ground would have spanned plots 589 and 629 as would the Tea Gardens and Zoo that the football ground was built alongside.

The current Partick Bowling Club’s grounds are clearly marked in the neighbouring plot as is plot 564 which would become West of Scotland Cricket Club‘s ground in 1862, the year after the map was published. To the cricket club’s left is a further bowling club and Partick Curling Club‘s pond. The Curling Club had moved there from their original home which was behind the current site of the Curlers Tavern in Byres Road.

Thistle would play at Muir Park between 1883 and 1885.
