Partick Thistle - The Early Years
Partick Thistle (and Willie Paul) at the Sunday School
The Sporting Times of 26 August 1899 reported a Sunday School teacher’s frustration:
It’s little good me trying to interest them in Biblical matters. Nothing but football interests them. The other Sunday I was talking to them, as well as I could, about Paul’s Epistle to the Corinthians. I afterwards asked them who was Paul. There was no response until one little chap said: ” ‘Paul? He’s centre furrit in the Partick Thistle; but he didna play against the Corinthians at a’. ‘ “
