If the first season saw the club feeling it's way
in the football world, the following 1876-77 season
almost saw the club's hopes extinguished before they
had really got under way. No matches were reported in
the press until the last month of the season, when a
match was organised between the Partick Thistle second
team and the second team of local rivals Partick
Ramblers. Two reports were filed for this game - in
the North British Daily Mail Ramblers reported the
score as being "a victory for the Ramblers by two
goals to none" while the Glasgow News had
"a victory for the Ramblers by two goals to one, disputed
to none" filed no doubt by a Partick Thistle
official.
